IMPACT Newsletter – January 2020

2020 has been all go since we got back into the office. We are seeing a slight slowdown in the market now as we approach bonus season but this should pick up in the next few weeks.  IMPACT held its first event of the year last night at DAI’s pop up in Spitalfields.  Lynn Blades, an inspirational Leadership Coach, gave an empowering talk to our attendees.

Fortune magazine exposes responsible investing as an area dominated by women in the very unbalanced finance industry. But now that there is large money pouring into ESG; men want in. An interesting read about an area of finance that we have seen strong growth in.

Goldman Sachs won’t take companies public without a woman on their board

David Solomon, CEO of Goldman, announced that they won’t take companies public anymore unless they have at least one ‘diverse’ board member. This diversity push is a very important issue and will primarily be focused on women.

 The UK- Africa summit didn’t do enough to tackle gender equality

The UK- Africa investment summit on 20th January 2020 claimed it would address gender equality but didn’t go far enough. It’s claimed they only sought to increase female entrepreneurship and not tackle the root causes of inequality.
