IMPACT & Fidelity International: “Can You Have It All?”

On Thursday 5th March, in celebration of International Women’s Day, Fidelity and IMPACT hosted a discussion exploring the question “Can You Have It All?”. Our panel comprised of five brilliant senior leaders from across the industry (Fidelity International, JP Morgan Asset Management, Tribe Impact Capital) to share honest reflections from their own careers and lives.

Together the conversation explored a range of themes including managing the “hidden load” at home, maintaining visibility while working flexibly, financial independence, and the realities of balancing professional and personal priorities.

What did the Panel Say?

A clear reflection from the panel was that “having it all” looks different for everyone. Rather than a fixed destination, it is something that evolves over time and moves in seasons. At certain points work may take centre stage, while at others family, health or personal priorities take precedence.

Panellists spoke candidly about the hidden load that often sits alongside demanding careers, highlighting the importance of open conversations with partners, renegotiating responsibilities as circumstances change, and outsourcing where possible to protect time and energy.

Ultimately, the discussion reinforced that life rarely feels perfectly balanced. Instead, the focus should be on building systems, boundaries and support networks that make the juggle more sustainable over time.

Key Takeaways:

  • Revisit how responsibilities are shared at home
  • If you delegate or outsource tasks, resist the urge to micro-manage.
  • Protect your time and energy by letting go of non-essential commitments.
  • Maintain strong relationships and visibility, particularly when working flexibly.
  • Be open about your boundaries – people often respond more positively than we expect.
  • Building financial security early can create greater flexibility later.
  • Model the behaviours you want to see in your team, whether that’s taking leave, leaving for family time or protecting personal time.
  • Don’t wait for everything to feel perfectly aligned before taking the next step.
