IMPACT Newsletter April 2019

The Leverton team cannot believe it is already May! For those of you looking for a role, I am sure you are finding it is a slow job market at the moment. We have started to see positive signs and hope the summer months bring better momentum and easier decision making! Referrals become ever more important when finding your next career step or stand-out person for your team.

We are looking forward to our next event with Investec Asset Management on Thursday 16th of May and have other ideas in motion. Specifically we are partnering with Capital Group in September, focusing on your ‘Personal Brand’. We will be bringing together a top City designer and personal stylist for an evening that promises to revive or totally inspire your look!

Here are the articles we thought would be interesting to you all this month:

The Gender Pay Gap

The main news this month was an update on the gender pay gap and how, in many cases, it has got worse. The Investment Association produced the data on our industry at the start of this month and a flurry of articles were published.

The Times gives a stark reminder of the stats relating to our industry. I thought this useful to see how people from outside financial services would view the data. Read Article

With the above in mind, this article from Portfolio Adviser digs deeper, highlighting the worst offenders and investigates which initiatives are in place. It is clear it will take years to address this but hopefully, if we do all we can, it will be a very different picture in 2029.

For further detail, the Investment Association has produced a report on suggestions to improve the gender pay gap. This will be interesting to those of you who are building proactive networks internally and influencing policies.
